1st Silver End Scout Group

Who we are

1st Silver End Scout Group is a part of the Maldon & East Essex District. Scouting in Silver End started in 1928, which makes the group over 90 years old.  We have four sections in the group and are partnered with an Explorer Unit that is also based in Silver End. All sections are open to girls and boys, providing adventure for young people aged 4 to 18.

A Squirrel Dray, a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack, a very large Scout Troop, and the Explorer Unit make up over 150 members. To find out more about each of them click on the relevant image.

We believe that every child has the right to an adventure, and our adult volunteers strive to create opportunities for young people in Silver End and the surrounding villages and towns.

It’s not just for young people though... If you are an adult interested in joining our adult team as either a leader, occasional helper, committee member or group supporter, please get in touch or look in the Adult Support section for more information.

SCOUTS SKI TRIP 2024

In the summer of 2023, the Scouts travelled abroad again. This time it was to the Dutch coastal town of Noordwijk.

During the week there ware loads of activities and  and cultural experiences. Take a look at the photo montage to see highlights of what they done.

DO SOMETHING GOOD

What to join our awesome team of volunteers? We have flexible volunteering opportunities available. It doesn't have to be helping at the weekly meetings with the children, we have admin and 'background' roles available. Even if you can only spare an hour or two a month we can fit in with you. So get in touch

FUND RAISING

The Scout Group is run entirely by volunteers and receives no Government funding. To enable us to offer all the great opportunities, fun and activities to the young people we rely on fund raising. Coming up in 2024 we have:-

If you can support us at any of these it would be fantastic.

‘I hope my story will encourage others to join our movement. My volunteer leaders believed in me as a young person and taught me to believe in myself. They showed me I could do anything I put my mind to, and others would help me along the way. Now I want a new generation to learn the skills, friendship and belonging I felt when I needed them most. I want to show that the outdoors is a place for all of us to be at our best, that Scouts is truly open to all.’
